Brett Coonrod

Brett CoonrodBrett Coonrod graduated from the University of North Texas in 1974 and from the University of Kansas Law School in 1977. He is currently admitted to practice law in Kansas and Missouri. Brett has extensive experience in all areas of litigation. He practiced insurance defense work for many years and has a unique perspective on what it takes to prepare and present a successful plaintiff’s case. He also has significant experience in toxic tort litigation, including asbestos related claims. Brett also has experience in real estate and general business litigation having served as general counsel for a small corporation responsible for all aspects of its litigation and other legal needs. He has successfully tried numerous cases in state and federal courts. Brett now devotes the vast majority of his time to ensuring that those injured through the negligence of others obtain a fair recovery to compensate them for the devastating effects of those injuries and to assisting business with their litigation needs, including contract disputes, employee matters and business dissolutions. He has worked extensively with franchisees of a national franchise network and is currently serving on the Chapter 7 Unsecured Creditor’s Committee for the Brooke Franchise Company bankruptcy proceeding in the United States Bankruptcy Court. He is currently volunteers his services as the attorney for the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, serves as an ex officio member of the Chamber Board of Directors and is a graduate of the 2010 Leadership Northeast program. He supports the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association and Project Walk – Kansas City, an organization to help individuals with spinal cord injuries learn to walk. Brett tries cases in state and federal courts throughout Kansas and Missouri and is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education programs relating to litigation. He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Kansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
