Amber Jeffers serves as Of Counsel to Smith Coonrod Mohlman LLC, representing primarily plaintiffs in employment matters. Ms. Jeffers has extensive experience in all aspects of employment law, including workers compensation, review of initial employment contracts, severance package negotiation, counseling employment disputes, Teacher Tenure Act compliance, and litigation of employment matters such as Title VII discrimination and retaliation, whistleblower actions, breach of employment contract, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and hostile work environment claims. Ms. Jeffers has practiced before courts in Missouri and in Kansas, as well as administrative bodies throughout both states.
Amber also advises businesses on employment statute compliance, both federal and state. Her experience includes drafting employee handbooks and office policies and procedures, and also conducting on-site training sessions for management and supervisory employees to ensure compliance with ever-changing employment laws.
Amber graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2002, and earned her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2007. Prior to law school she worked for a Fortune 100 insurance company in the personal lines underwriting division. Amber is very active in her community, working with the Junior League of Kansas City and the Association of Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City. She is the current president of the Diversity Section of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Amber is a graduate of the KCMBA Bar Leadership Academy, and a section development fund Fellow to the American Bar Association Section of Labor and Employment Law. She is licensed to practice law before the state and federal courts of Kansas and Missouri.
